LOBSTER CLASP vs STANDARD SNAP
Having a small lever, or trigger, to open the snap distinguishes a lobster  snap from a standard snap or an all-purpose snap. Using just one hand to open and close the snap is made simple by the trigger.
Additionally, rather than a standard snap, it includes overlapping sections that provide a more firm hold. Anything can hardly ever get past a lobster snap. It differs from a standard snap in that the integrated trigger mechanism will not release by accident; rather, it will only do so when intentional force is applied.
Solid brass ~ 
Solid brass is an alloy, or mixture of elements, usually composed of copper and zinc, though other metals can occasionally be included. When put under pressure, brass is known to have more "stretch" than other materials; that is, it will flex instead of crack or break. It is therefore the best option for weight-bearing hardware. Additionally, brass has a strong corrosion resistance and is rust proof. With time and contact to the environment, it will acquire a patina or tarnish on its surface; nevertheless, it may be cleaned and polished to bring back its color and luster. 
Stainless Steel ~
Another alloy is stainless steel, which is usually a combination of iron, carbon, and chromium. Stainless steel has a timeless, matte silver look and is incredibly robust, resilient, and rust and corrosion resistant. Because stainless steel requires more chromium than other alloys, it can be more expensive and more challenging to cast or mill, which makes it more difficult to find in a range of sizes and shapes. 
Plated hardware (black/nickel) ~
The most prevalent kind of hardware used in the pet business is plated hardware. It is a base material that is "plated," or coated, with another material to alter its look and increase its corrosion resistance. Typically, the base material is steel, brass, or a zinc alloy. Nickel plating is very popular in the pet industry. Other popular platings are brass, zinc, chrome, and nickel. Compared to solid brass or stainless steel, plated hardware can be more affordable and lightweight, and the plating process produces a wide variety of finishes to accommodate a variety of aesthetic preferences. The materials used to make plated hardware can make it less resilient and more likely to break. Furthermore, the plating will eventually wear off, exposing the substance.
